These two Ficus trees had become a problem for multiple reasons. They were growing onto the owner and neighbor's roofs. In addition their root systems were pushing up the block wall in several locations. Removal was somewhat tricky due to the risk of property damage but it went off without a hitch. Although we can't remove established root systems under walls or sidewalks the trees are dead and the roots will decay and disolve over time. Trees are biodegradable and eventually the old root systems will become fertilizer for new plants.
