This Palo Verde tree was blown over by high winds. Once a tree's root structure is compromised to this degree it is very difficult for it to recover. We cut the tree at roughly ground level and chipped the wood. The stump can be removed with a grinding machine but there are two other inexpensive solutions available. First the owner can bury the stump and exposed roots with rock. Second the owner can plant a ground cover over the stump. The dead root system of the Palo Verde will slowly decay which provides fertilizer to any plants above or nearby.
